Sainfoin (Onobrychis viciifolia) – Perennial
A premium pollinator plant producing soft pink flower spikes rich in high-quality nectar. Highly attractive to bees and valued for clean, light honey. Deep-rooted and long-lived once established.
Sowing tips:
- Depth: 10–15 mm (½ inch)
- Germination: 10–20 days
- Spacing: moderate density; avoid overcrowding
Coverage (dense sowing): ~15–25 sq ft per 20 g
Growing notes:
- Height: typically 2–3 ft
- Sun: full sun required
- Water: low once established; drought tolerant
- Soil: prefers well-drained, lighter soils (does not like heavy, wet ground)
