Dutch White Clover (Trifolium repens) – Perennial
A low-growing, long-lived clover with small white blooms that provide a steady nectar source throughout the season. Forms a dense, durable ground cover ideal for filling gaps in flowerbeds and along edges.
Sowing tips:
- Depth: surface sow to 3 mm max (lightly press in, do not bury)
- Germination: 7–14 days
- Spacing: sow dense for full ground cover
Coverage (dense sowing): ~30–40 sq ft per 20 g
Growing notes:
- Height: typically 4–8 inches
- Sun: full sun to partial shade
- Water: low to moderate; drought tolerant once established
- Soil: highly adaptable; performs well in most conditions
Helpful info:
- Spreads naturally to form a thick, weed-suppressing mat
- Blooms repeatedly through the season with regular moisture
- Fixes nitrogen, improving surrounding soil
- Tolerates light foot traffic (good for pathways and edges)
- Returns year after year with minimal maintenance
General Sowing (Urban / Flowerbeds)
- Timing: Spring or early fall
- Prep: Loosen topsoil (2–5 cm), remove weeds
- Seed: Broadcast evenly and press into soil
- Water: Keep soil moist until established
Tip: Do not cover deeply—most failures come from burying the seed too far.
