Crimson Clover (Trifolium incarnatum) – Annual

A fast-growing clover with striking deep red flower spikes. Produces strong early-season blooms that attract heavy bee activity and add bold color to small garden spaces.

Sowing tips:

• Depth: 5–10 mm (¼–½ inch)
• Germination: 5–10 days
• Spacing: can be sown dense; thinning optional

Coverage (dense sowing): ~15–25 sq ft per 20 g

Growing notes:

• Height: typically 1–2 ft
• Sun: full sun preferred
• Water: moderate; keep moist during establishment
• Soil: performs best in well-drained soil

Helpful info:

• Blooms quickly (6–8 weeks after sowing)
• Does not reliably overwinter in colder climates—reseed each year
• Excellent early nectar source for bees
• Can be succession planted for extended bloom period
• Helps improve soil by fixing nitrogen

• Timing: Early spring or late summer
• Prep: Loosen topsoil (2–5 cm), remove weeds
• Seed: Broadcast evenly and lightly cover
• Water: Keep soil moist until established

Tip: For fuller visual impact, sow slightly heavier than standard lawn rates in small beds.
